The Heart of the Sea - Rell Sunn

Rell Kapolioka'ehukai Sunn, we believe, is one of the greatest influences on womens surfing as we know it today.

Growing up on the idealic island of Oahu, Hawai'i, the entire 47 years of Rell's life she spent in the ocean - a woman truely in love with the sea. She lost a 15 year battle with breast cancer at the beginning of 1998, but her timeless, infamous natural grace in and out of the water has lived on.

We adore Rell's gentle approach to life and the ocean, and love to follow this Rell-ish behaviour.

Today we see so many women in the water with beautiful fluid style and we really think we have Rell Sunn to thank for pioneering the way for where lady's surfing is.

If you would love to understand more about one of our greatest inspirations, there is a fantastic film, The Heart of the Sea that you should scope out.
